2 Punjabi women murdered in Brampton, husband arrested

Two Punjabi women were killed in Brampton, Baljit Thandi, 32 and Avtar Kaur, 60. Dalwinder Singh is charged in second degree murderof wife Baljit Thind and mother-in-law, Avtar Kaur.

On Friday, January 12th, 2018, at 10:45 pm, Peel Regional Police responded to a call at a residence on Starhill Crescent in the Sandalwood Parkway and Dixie Road area of Brampton.

“Upon arrival, officers observed two females in distress,” said Peel Police Const. Bancroft Wright.

Two deceased victims found inside the residence are 32 year old Baljit THANDI and her mother, 60 year old Avtar KAUR.  Both victims had sustained fatal stab wounds.

Const. Rachel Gibbs said a child was located in the house but was not injured. The child is currently in the care of the Children’s Aid Society.

The Accused, 29 year old Dalwinder SINGH, husband of the victim Baljit THANDI, was located within the residence and placed under arrest.  He has since been charged with two counts of Second Degree Murder.

This is Peel Region’s first and second homicides of 2018.Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have made the arrest.
