A Brampton male working as a counsellor at a facility for people with developmental disabilities has been charged with assaulting a resident.

Halton Regional Police were called in September to investigate the report of an assault at the Central West Specialized Developmental Services (CWSDS) residence on Bond Street in Oakville. A resident reported being assaulted by a staff member and suffering minor injuries.

On Monday, Nov. 20, Halton police arrested Edobor Elaiho, 28, of Brampton and charged him with assault.

The  CWSDS website says it is a not-for-profit funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

It operates several homes in Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga and Georgetown and offers both residential and non-residential services to individuals and families.
