Canada Post and India Post mark Diwali, Festival of Lights by issuing joint stamps.

Canada Post and India Post today jointly issued two stamps to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights an important annual observance for many Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains in Canada and around the world.

The joint stamp issue is a historic first between these postal services and reflects our country's diversity in the year of Canada 150.

The  souvenir sheet featuring a festively decorated lamp was designed by India Post and printed in India. Available in Canada with only 10,000  from Canada Post, the stamps on this sheet can only be used for mail in India.The stamps are printed in five colours plus a varnish, and are available in booklets of 10.

The stamps were unveiled today at Toronto City Hall by Canada Post President and CEO Deepak Chopra, Vikas Swarup, the High Commissioner of India to Canada, Vikas Swarup, Mayor of Toronto John Tory.
