Two Durham Regional Police officers identified as Husen Aswat, 32, and Amandeep Thakur, 30 and three civilians have been arrested after a year-long investigation into an Ajax bar.
News release from Durham Regional Police Service states that Police began investigating the Black Bear Bar and Grill on Westney Rd. S. during the summer of 2016 because of “excess alcohol serving and illegal drug transactions.”
The investigation, aided by officers from the Toronto Police Service, found that cocaine and marijuana were being sold at the bar.Investigators allege Aswat and Thakur were associated with the owner of the Black Bear Bar and Grill and involved in drug trafficking taking place there.
Durham Regional Police Chief Paul Martin in the statement, ““Obviously it’s very concerning and disappointing when we find ourselves investigating our own employees.”
