Ottawa Public Health has announced its first frostbite advisory of the season as the low is expected to reach –25 C with a wind chill of –33, according to Environment Canada.

The high is expected to rise to –12 C with a wind chill of –30 on Friday. It will be sunny in the morning, becoming a mix of sun and cloud later on.

Weekend is expected to be warm but the weekend is also expected to bring a ton of snow. Saturday's high will be about –7 C with a "significant" amount of snow, according to a special weather statement from Environment Canada.

The warm will be short-lived, however. It's expected to drop to –22 C on Sunday night.

The frostbite advisories are issued when the air feels like –25 C or colder and warnings when the air feels like –35 C or colder.
