Police said that two persons, including a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) from Canada, have been arrested for allegedly attacking a man over a property-related dispute at nearby Hardaspur village early Friday.

The SP Phagwara, Parminder Singh Bhandhal, said the accused NRI Tirlochan Singh Bains had hired some criminals through the Punjab Gatka Party president Sarabjit Singh alias Babbu to vacate his parental house at Hardaspur village which was given to a villager Jinderpal a few years ago who was residing in the house as the care taker.

Jinderpal was not ready to vacate the house. NRI Tirlochan along with his accomplices, went to the house yesterday, broke open the door and ransacked the house.

The accused opened fire and Amandeep, nephew of Jinderpal sustained bullet injuries. He was admitted to the local Civil Hospital. SP Bhandhal said the police were investigating the matter and the remaining accused would also be nabbed soon.
