51 yr old cyclist injured after hanging on to transport truck in Brampton

Peel Police has reported that a 51-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after falling off his bicycle as he was hanging on to the back of a transport truck on Saturday, July 14, in Brampton.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Steeles Avenue and Hurontario Street shortly before 6 p.m.

Peel Regional Police were called to the scene and were treating the incident as a collision at first before further investigation revealed the man hung on to the trailer of the vehicle. The truck was travelling at approximately 60 kilometres per hour, according to police.

The roadway was closed for about three hours during an investigation. Police say charges have not been laid. Police are reminding cyclists it is unsafe to hang on to motor vehicles.
