Amardip Singh Rai, who was wanted on 17 charges, including sexual assault, assault with a weapon, and confining a person without lawful power, was arrested by frontline police on Tuesday, as reported by SURREY RCMP.
The Surrey RCMP Strike Force Target Team (SFTT) detained Rai on April 28, 2021, in connection with an outstanding warrant from the August 2019 investigation. The courts granted him a conditional release on May 7, 2021. A warrant for Rai’s arrest was issued after it was claimed that he missed a subsequent court date.
On January 20, 2022, Surrey RCMP asked the public for help in locating Rai. Rai was listed as one of Canada’s 25 most-wanted people in October 2022.

Frontline RCMP officers were actively looking for people with outstanding warrants on January 8, 2023. Officers were able to confirm Rai was inside a home in the 17400 block of 64 Avenue after conducting an investigation. The residence was secured, and a Feeney warrant was obtained to enter and arrest him.
The Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team helped with the execution of the search warrant, and Rai was safely placed into police custody. He was taken to RCMP cells in Surrey and is now being held there while he awaits his next court date.
