America enables fully vaccinated Americans to enter the country.

Today, Canada relaxes the entry prohibition for Americans for non-essential travel, but the US retains restrictions for Canadian citizens. To cross one of the world's longest and busiest land borders, U.S. residents and those with a permanent residence status must be fully vaccinated and have a negative COVID-19 test no older than three days.

Before crossing, passengers must also complete a full check-in on the arriveCAN app. Despite the fact that travelers must register, the Canadian Border Service (CBSA) cannot forecast how many individuals will enter Canada. They also stated that all travelers are preparing for the prospect of extended time at the border for data processing.

"The CBSA will not jeopardize Canadians' health and safety by waiting at the border," CBSA spokesperson Rebecca Purdy said in a statement, according to the Associated Press.

Since March 2020, the US-Canadian border has been blocked from non-essential travel as part of measures to combat the spread of coronavirus. The United States will extend the closure for all non-essential travel for Canadians until at least August 21, including the Mexican border. However, the Biden administration is preparing for a phased opening. The key requirement would be that nearly all international visitors to the United States be immunized against coronavirus.
