Apple’s eagerly awaited ‘Wonderlust’ launch event witnessed the global unveiling of the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus, featuring significant hardware enhancements compared to their predecessors. Notable upgrades include the integration of the company’s powerful A16 Bionic chipset, including Dynamic Island, and a 48-megapixel primary camera, features previously available only on last year’s Pro models. Perhaps most notably, all iPhone models this year will feature a USB Type-C port, marking the departure from Apple’s proprietary Lightning charging port.
A16 Bionic Chipset and Dynamic Island Enhance Hardware: The iPhone 15, a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone, boasts a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display fortified with Ceramic Shield material for additional durability. This year, Apple has introduced the Dynamic Island, a feature that debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro models last year. The display delivers up to 2000 nits of peak brightness, and the device carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The iPhone 15 Plus, on the other hand, sports a larger 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. Notably, the primary camera on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models has been upgraded to a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera equipped with a 2um quad-pixel sensor and an f/1.6 aperture. Additionally, the smartphones feature a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture and sensor-shift stabilization. The handsets are equipped with a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera for selfies and video chats in the new camera island.
USB Type-C Port Replaces Apple’s Proprietary Charging: Apple’s latest iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have significantly changed by incorporating a USB Type-C port, departing from the traditional Apple Lightning connector. This shift marks a milestone for the company as it moves toward standardized charging technology.
Pricing, Availability, and Specifications Unveiled: In Canada, the iPhone 15 starts at $1129, the iPhone 15 Plus starts at $1279, the iPhone 15 Pro starts at $1449, while the 15 Pro Max starts at $1749 for the base 128GB variant excluding taxes. IPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will be available in various colors, including Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Yellow. And iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available in various colors, including natural titanium, blue titanium, white titanium, and black titanium. Pre-orders for these devices will commence on September 15, with the official sale date set for September 22. Storage options for these handsets extend up to 512GB.
