Arrest Made in Human Trafficking Investigation

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau - Vice have arrested and charged a man in relation to a sex-trafficking investigation of a youth in Peel Region.

In early May 2022, investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau - Vice Unit attended a local hotel in the City of Mississauga, locating an underaged female being trafficked within the sex trade by the suspect, who exercised control over aspects of the victim’s life and profited financially from it.

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, investigators arrested Muhammad Shayan Haque, a 21-year-old man from Brampton, and charged him with the following offences:

  • Householder Permitting Prohibited Sexual Activity
  • Exercise Control, Direction, or Influence

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims, particularly in the Cambridge and Hamilton area, and are urging them to contact them at 905-453-2121, extension 3555.
