Brampton homicide victim identified as woman who went missing in Toronto, victim's ex-husband wanted by police

Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau are investigating a deceased person that was located in Brampton.

On Monday, January 13, 2020, at 5:49 p.m., Peel Regional Police responded to a naturalized green space in the area of Nexus Avenue and Fogal Road in the City of Brampton for a report that a deceased person had been located. Officers attended and confirmed that a person was deceased and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. It was determined that the death was suspicious and our Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau took carriage of the investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Heeral Patel, a 28 year-old woman from Toronto.

The suspect in this incident is the deceased ex-husband, Rakeshbhai Patel, a 36 year-old man from Toronto. Investigators are encouraging him to contact a lawyer and arrange to turn himself in.
