Ottawa has secured a plane for the evacuation of Canadians from China. The Canadian government is concerned about the citizens and trying to ‘safely evacuate’ them as the novel coronavirus continues to spread.
Briefing about this, Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne said that the government has a plane lined up to evacuate Canadians from China. He said that the next step is to secure co-operation from China to provide the required assistance to the 160 Canadians.
“We have secured an aircraft that could bring those Canadians who wish to leave back to Canada,” said Champagne.
He added that he could not say whether any of the 160 Canadians in China requested any consular assistance for the coronavirus or displaying symptoms of the virus.
It’s also advised by the government through an updated travel advisory for China, to avoid all non-essential travel to the country.
It is to be mentioned that more than 6,000 people in China have now been infected.
