A total of 4 lakh 30 thousand 817 cusec water has been released from the Hathini Kund barrage in Haryana, further raising the water level of Yamuna, which is already flowing at a dangerous level.

A high alert has been sounded in the Yamuna Nagar administration following the release of water. The catchment area has been evacuated after water entered the houses of locals living in the area.

The continuous rain in the Yamuna catchment area has only added to the rising water levels.

The national capital received light to moderate rainfall intermittently throughout the day on Saturday and it continued even on Sunday morning.

"We have been closely monitoring the water level of Yamuna. Preparations are being made to deal with the flood-like situation," an official said.
