
Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Canada and India share special bonds of history, friendship and trade. Prime Ministers Trudeau and Modi will meet again in India very soon.
Trudeau will travel to India – at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi –from February 17 to 23.
This state visit – which includes stops in Agra, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi – will provide an opportunity for Prime Minister Trudeau to connect with Indian leaders in government and business, promote the empowerment of women and girls, and strengthen Canada and India’s close economic ties.
During the visit, Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Modi will reaffirm the close friendship between our two countries, and discuss ways to create good middle class jobs for Canadians and Indians alike.
Prime Minister Trudeau will also participate in several business roundtables to promote further trade and investment between Canada and India. The Canadian delegation will also work closely with Indian leaders to advance mutual growth and prosperity.
While in India, Prime Minister Trudeau will also speak to students, and visit several landmarks, including the Taj Mahal, Sri Harmandir Sahib (also known as the Golden Temple), and the Swaminarayan Akshardham in Gujarat.
