Federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May has stepped down as party leader. She made the announcement in Ottawa Today, i.e. Monday.
The Green Party failed to break through with the electorate and the results were disappointing as it failed to hold the balance of power. Green party won 3 seats, which was much below the expectations.
Speaking to media in Ottawa, May said that she is resigning from the post of party leader she has held since 2006 but she will continue to sit as a MP.
Former journalist Jo-Ann Roberts will serve as the party’s interim leader.
