Five People Arrested in Bank Robbery Investigation
Region of Peel– In collaboration with Woodstock Police Service, investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested and charged five individuals in relation to an armed bank robbery that occurred in Woodstock, Ontario.
On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 1:53 p.m., the accused parties attended a financial institution in the City of Woodstock. At this time, four accused parties arrived in a vehicle that had been stolen that same day in the City of Brampton.
During the robbery, one member of the group brandished a firearm striking a customer. The employees and customers were forcibly confined in the bank and bound with zip-ties. A quantity of money was taken in the robbery. One customer sustained minor injuries.
As a result of effective communication and coordination of resources with Woodstock Police Service, at approximately 4 p.m., Peel Police Central Robbery investigators located the stolen vehicle used in the robbery in Mississauga. Five suspects from the bank robbery were arrested at this time, including the driver of a second vehicle involved in the robbery. An imitation firearm was recovered during the arrests.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at a residence in Mississauga, resulting in offence related property seizure.
Anthony Mitchell, a 19-year-old male from Maple, has been charged with Robbery, Use Imitation Firearm, Wear Disguise with Intent, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Fail to Comply with a Release Order stemming from robbery related charges from 2019. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice for a Bail Hearing on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
Elijah Cromwell, a 19-year-old male from Brampton, has been charged with Robbery, Use Imitation Firearm, Wear Disguise with Intent and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice for a Bail Hearing on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
A 16-year-old male from Mississauga has been charged with Robbery, Use Imitation Firearm, Wear Disguise with Intent and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice for a Bail Hearing on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
A 14-year-old male from Mississauga has been charged with Robbery, Use Imitation Firearm, Wear Disguise with Intent and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice for a Bail Hearing on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
Daphne Tran, a 21 year old female from Mississauga, has been charged with one count of Robbery. She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice for a Bail Hearing on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.
