Halton Regional Police have arrested a 27-year-old Brampton man in connection with the theft of a tractor-trailer containing $60,000 worth of avocados.
The man allegedly gained access to a locked trucking yard by cutting a lock on Industry St. in Oakville on Oct. 15, police said in a Wednesday news release. A tractor-trailer containing the avocados was then stolen from the yard, police said.
The avocados were in transit in a “refrigerator-type trailer,” police said.
The tractor was recovered in Etobicoke the next day. The trailer was found in Scarborough on Oct. 26. The avocados were no longer in the trailer at the time.
Halton police arrested Harjot Singh Dhillon, 27, on Tuesday. He is facing charges of breaking and entering and possession of a break-in instrument.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact detective constable Jeremy Civiero at 905-825-4747 ext. 2248 at the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau.
