Harvey rains to worsen Texas city’s condition.

Floodwaters are expected to rise still further in the Texan city of Houston, where more than 30,000 people have been forced from their homes in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
 
The downpour is forecast to continue.
 
In Houston, forecasts suggest that some areas in and around the city could see up to 12inc (30cm) of rain on today, bringing the total rainfall from Harvey to about 50 in.
Rescuers are trying to reach stranded people while the governor of Texas has approved the deployment of all 12,000 members of the state’s National Guard to assist.
