Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made a new announcement regarding plane crash in Tran killing all 176 people aboard including 63 Canadians. Trudeau says Canada has intelligence that indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian missile. He also said that there is a possibility of ‘unintentional attack’ though.
“We have intelligence from multiple sources, including our allies and our own intelligence. The evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile. This may well have been unintentional,” the prime minister Justin Trudeausaid Thursday afternoon at a news conference.
It’s to be mentioned here that shortly after taking Ukraine Airlines flight PS752 crashed near Tehran.
However, Trudeau declined to elaborate on what evidence Canadian officials possess to support his statement. U.S. President Donald Trump also indicated towards similar possibility of Iran being responsible for the plane going down.
According to Justin Trudeau, he had called for Iran to allow a full investigation into the crash.
“The families of the victims and all Canadians want answers. I want answers. That means closure, transparency, accountability and justice,” he said.
“This government will not rest until we get that.”
Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Phillippe Champagne has talked to his Iranian counterpart about the crash.
He also confirmed that that Canada has pushed Iran to allow Canadian investigators to take part in the investigation, but that their participation has not been confirmed. The plane’s black box remains in Iran.
