On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, I spent the morning in a boxing ring with inspiring, powerful and positive women and recognized the Shape Your Life Program.
This innovative program uses boxing to empower female and trans survivors of family and gender-based violence.
Our Government of Canada through Public health agency of Canada has committed more than $420,000 to the Shape Your Life project. Researchers from Brock University will determine the benefits to the physical and mental health of participants.
The Government of Canada is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all Canadians.
Thank you to Savoy Howe, Head Coach at Toronto Newsgirls Boxing Club, Tania Jivraj, from Shape Your Life, and Joffre Mercier from Brock University for all the work you do to assist female and trans survivors.
