International Trade Minister Jim Carr diagnosed with cancer

Jim Carr, International Trade Minister has been diagnosed with cancer, a type of blood cancer.

Winnipeg South Centre MP says that his “spirits are high” and he will continue to serving his constituents. In a statement issued Frida, he said that the treatment has begun for the disease, which he says has also affected his kidneys.

Further Jim said that he had been experiencing flu-like symptoms in some last days during election campaign where he also went in for blood work.

The chemotherapy sessions and dialysis treatment has started and will continue.

It is to be mentioned here that the Liberal cabinet minister was re-elected in his Winnipeg South Centre riding Monday.

“On Tuesday, I underwent further tests which led to a diagnosis of multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer,” he wrote.

“This has also affected my kidney function. I have begun chemotherapy and dialysis treatment, which will continue for the near future.”

“I am feeling well, my spirits are high. I spoke to the prime minister and reiterated my commitment to continue serving my constituents and all Canadians,” said Carr in his statement.
