Jagmeet Singh organised Engagement Kirtan, a spiritual celebration

Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh celebrated his engagement with Gurkiran Kaur in spiritual kirtan organized at Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar in Brampton on February 4th.

Around a week back he with his fiancee Gurkiran Kaur  cordially invited all to be a part of their joy attending the Engagement Kirtan.

Singh pulled back the curtain on his closely guarded private life, letting Canadians know on Jan 16th, 2018 that he is engaged. He proposed to girlfriend Gurkiran Kaur, 27, at a private party night just blocks away from the Ontario legislature in Toronto where he served as a provincial legislator for six years.

He proposed  Gurkiran Kaur in front of several dozen friends and family members at a vegetarian restaurant where they had their first date.Friends cheered as Singh and Kaur arrived. Singh pulled a ring out of his jacket pocket and got down on one knee to propose to Kaur, who accepted.

Singh was elected federal NDP leader last fall and had been guarded about his personal life, but social media posts in December made headlines after it was reported he and Kaur were engaged which was actually a Punjabi Roka Ceremony.

Asked why he decided to make this news public and what he wants Canadians to know about it, Singh said he was excited about the engagement.

After that memorable night, Singh along with his love, family and well wishers joyfully celebrated the engagement , a new step towards a beautiful life seeking God’s blessings on Feb 4th.
