Kwantlen Polytechnic University(KPU) in Surrey previously issued a statement that KPU is experiencing a large number of applications and students from India represents 80 % of applications.
“In order to ensure that we maintain the diversity of our International student body, and in order to ensure International students enjoy the experience of studying in a truly global environment, we have chosen to close applications for Summer 2028 semester for students carrying Indian Passports.”
However apologizing for recent communications regarding the closure of applications to prospective international students holding Indian passports., KPU issued the following statement.
“Kwantlen Polytechnic University sincerely apologizes for recent communications regarding the closure of applications to prospective international students holding Indian passports.
We value our global relationships and we embrace diversity.
KPU has experienced tremendous growth in applications from international students over the last year.
As a result, international enrolment at KPU has grown 41% since the fall of 2017 and applications from international students for the Summer 2018 semester are already up over Summer 2017.
KPU is committed to creating a positive experience for all our students. We value our international and domestic students.
While KPU is excited about the opportunities to maintain a diverse international student population, the continued and sustained growth in demand necessitates a review of the university’s capacity to enrol international students. Consequently, the university has decided to close applications, effective immediately, from all prospective international students for both the Summer and Fall 2018 semesters. Please note: this does not apply to permanent residents and landed immigrants, as they are considered domestic students.
This will also allow the university to deal with the backlog of applications already submitted.
KPU looks forward to collaborating with all of its international partners to promote a global and diverse experience for its students. We would like to thank our international partners for their continued support.”
