Vipin Sharma,  a Hindu organisation leader was shot dead by two unidentified men in broad daylight today, Oct.30.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) Charanjit Singh said, "Vipin Sharma, the district president of Hindu Sangharsh Sena in Amritsar was critical after he suffered several bullet injuries."He was then taken to a local hospital where he died.  A local Shiv Sena leader Chetan Kakkar termed it as an act committed by a Sikh activist and said that the victim was active in the rallies and protests held for the welfare of Hindus.

The attack comes just two weeks after a Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh leader, Ravinder Gosai, was shot dead outside his house in Punjab’s Ludhiana.

This is the second incident in Punjab in this month where a religious leader was shot dead. On 17 October, an RSS leader was shot dead by two unidentified men in Ludhiana.

The incident is the latest in a series of targeted murders in the state in 2 years that have remained a mystery. There have been nine killings of right wing and other religious leaders, suspected to be aimed at creating communal rift in the state.Almost all of them were shot by two unidentified, bike-borne persons.

The following are the Religious leaders who got shot dead:

Vipin Sharma: Shiv Sena Leader

Ravinder Gosai: RSS Leader

Pastor Sultan Masih:  An SIT was formed, but the case is still unsolved.

Dera Sacha Sauda follower Satpal Sharma (70) and his son Ramesh (40)

Amit Sharma (35): District president of Shri Hindu Takht

Brig. Jagdish Gagneja: RSS Leader

Durga Prasad Gupta (28): President of Shiv Sena wing

Mata Chand Kaur: wife of former head of the Namdhari sect late Satguru Jagjit Singh

Naresh Kumar: RSS Leader.

Even though the state government set up special investigation teams (SITs) in some of these cases or handed them over to the CBI, there have been no significant breakthroughs, and all cases remain unsolved.
