As a proud Sikh Canadian, MP for Surrey—Newton, Sukh Dhaliwal expressed honour and pleasure to introduce a private member’s bill today ,Bill C-376 seconded by Ruby Sahota, to designate April as Sikh Heritage Month.
He says that as we celebrate Canada’s 150th, we reflect on our strengths and successes as a society, which above all is Canada’s commitment to equality. He highlighted that since the arrival of the first Sikhs on Canada’s shores in 1897, they have played a key role in our progress as a country, and by designating April as Sikh Heritage Month we celebrate their contributions and strengthen our commitment to diversity.
