For many Canadians, COVID-19 is having a major impact on their everyday lives, as they work to pay their bills, put food on the table, and take care of themselves and their families. Community organizations such as Roots Community Services, the Boys and Girls Club of Peel, and Cancer Warrior do critical work to support vulnerable people and ensure they have access to the resources they need.

MP Sonia Sidhu joined Navneet Sharma, the CEO of Cancer Warrior on Friday afternoon to deliver the food donations. Donations will go to support families dealing with food insecurity and facing hardship during this challenging time. This partnership aligns with the commitments of those involved and will go a long way in supporting Brampton families.

Community engagement opportunities like this are invaluable, and those involved will continue to commit to supporting vulnerable Canadians through these difficult times

QUOTES:

“COVID-19 has further highlighted the unique challenges that exist for those facing food insecurity and challenges with mental health. I’m proud to have facilitated this partnership and recognize the ongoing commitment to support vulnerable families in our community.”—Sonia Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Brampton South

“When we have the opportunity to collaborate with new partners in our communities, warriors like Navneet and her team at Cancer warriors, it reminds us why we do what we do every day. Here to serve, not to be served, ensuring that children, youth and families across our Peel Region continue to get access to the resources they deserve and need, especially during these uncertain times. Donations from organizations like Cancer Warriors, thanks to MP Sonia Sidhu and her team of Brampton South, families are restored with HOPE and are reminded about how much they matter to all of us,”—Michael J Gyovai, Executive Director, Boys and Girls Club of Peel.

“We at Roots Community Services (RootsCS) express our gratitude to Navneet Sharma of Cancer Warrior for reaching out to other organizations in the community to help reduce the burden many families face and that has been deepened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks also to MP Sonia Sidhu for recognizing the services that we offer to inspire individuals to become productive citizens. This is the type of partnership that builds an inclusive community,”—Angela J Carter, Executive Director, Executive Director, Roots Community Services.

“We would like to provide the food to these families with the help of CMHA, to which we got connected by our leader MP Sonia Sidhu of Brampton South region. MP Sidhu supported many times these kinds of initiatives of the Cancer Warrior Canada Foundation, especially at this unprecedented time. Summer is a time for family fun and the sounds of children’s laughter. Sadly this year, summer will be a sad occasion for many families in our community who have fallen on hard times and can’t feed their family. That is why our organization is extending help for as many as we can.”— Navneet Sharma, Founder, Cancer Warrior
