New $10 bank note enters circulation celebrating Canada 150.
The Circulation of the Bank of Canada’s commemorative $10 bill began today, with Governor Stephen Poloz making the first purchase with the new bank note in a store in downtown Ottawa.
The Bank of Canada unveiled the new note in April.
The new notes can now be obtained at any financial institution across the country, but don’t replace the current $10 bill, which will continue to circulate. Only 40 million of the new notes are being issued, working out to about one for every Canadian.
