Rajashree Swain, a 26-year-old cricket player from Odisha who went missing on January 10, was found hanging from a tree in a forest close to the Gurudijhatia police limit in Athagarh area.

Although Rajashree's family claimed that she was murdered, the police believe it to be a case of suicide.

Rajashree Swain participated in the OCA's state team selection camp, which officially started on December 23. A total of 39 female cricket players joined the camp, and 25 made it through the final round of selection.

According to sources, Rajashree was clearly disappointed following the team announcement on January 10 as a result of her rejection from the final 16 players for the BCCI Senior Women's One-Day Trophy (BCCI Domestic Season 2022-23), which will begin on January 18 in Pondicherry.

On January 11 her coach filed a missing report to the Mangalabag station of Cuttack police department. Her mobile phone was off, and her scooter was recovered abandoned near a forest.

Police have yet to determine what caused her death. However, her family claimed that she was murdered since "the body exhibited injury signs and her eyes were damaged." They blamed the OCA (Odisha Cricket Association) administration but the OCA disproved the allegation.
