
Peel Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal fail to remain collision.
On Thursday, February 15, 2018, at approximately 8:40 p.m., the victim was crossing Mavis Road in the area of Knotty Pine Grove in the City of Mississauga. As the victim crossed into the south bound lane of Mavis Road she was struck by a south bound vehicle.
The victim, a 61 year-old female of Mississauga suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Witnesses to the collision have identified the suspect vehicle as a small white compact car. This vehicle will have damage to the front windshield. Investigators are appealing to the public to be alert for a small white vehicle in their neighbourhood with fresh windshield damage.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses who may have witnessed the collision, have dashboard video footage of the incident or who may have information regarding the actions of the pedestrian and /or driver prior to the collision.
Police are appealing to the conscience of the driver to turn him or herself in to police
