Peel Police arrest Male for Mosque Break and Enter

Investigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged a male responsible for a break and enter to a Mosque in the City of Mississauga.

On March 14, 2018, police attended the Masjid Rahmatul-Lil-Alameen Mosque, located at 205 North Service Road in Mississauga.

Police were advised that at approximately 10:30 p.m. a loud bang and noises were heard coming from the main floor of the Mosque. Upon investigating, it was noticed that an unsucessful attempt was made to pry open a door in order to gain access to a donation box.

On April 26, 2018, Ashraf AWAD, a 58 year-old male from the City of Toronto, was arrested and charged with Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, and with three counts of Breach of Probation Order.

Ashraf AWAD was held pending a bail hearing to take place at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Brampton, on April 27, 2018.

Investigators are also encouraging any organizations to contact police if they have experienced a similar type incident.
