Police investigate two daylight gunpoint carjackings

Peel Police is investigating two daylight gunpoint carjackings – 1 in Brampton, 1 in Mississauga

One man is in custody following a foot chase, two others are still being hunted after two gunpoint carjackings on Thursday morning ,May 10.

The first car was stolen near Peel Village Golf Course in Brampton, in the area of Hartford Trail and Halldorson Trail around 9:15 a.m.

There are no reports of any injuries to the victim. That car ended up crashing in the area of Guelph Line and Highway 401 in Milton about 75 minutes later, at 10:30 a.m. Halton Regional Police and the OPP arrested a suspect after a foot chase and no injuries were reported. A firearm was recovered.

The second carjacking happened on Winston Churchill Boulevard, just north of Highway 401, at 9:53 a.m. No injuries were reported to that victim, either. The vehicle,a grey Hyundai Santa Fe with Ontario licence BVEJ148 is still missing. Police are also looking for two suspects and a suspect vehicle described as a blue Mazda 3 with Ontario licence CEVC700.

Charges are pending and there is no word on the age of the suspect in custody.
