Police investigate break-in at Pacific Mall, Markham

York Regional Police are investigating a break-and-enter at Pacific Mall this morning.Pacific Mall is an Asian shopping centre in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the northeast side of Steeles Avenue and Kennedy Road, along the city’s border with Toronto.

Officers were initially called to the Markham shopping centre,shortly before 6:30 a.m. after receiving an alarm call.

When officers arrived, they found broken glass and confirmed that someone had broken into the mall.

The police service’s K9 unit was sent in to see if any suspects were inside but investigators have not located anyone inside the mall, which is not currently open.

No injuries were reported and no suspect information has been released.

In Jan, 2018 Pacific Mall one was reported as one of the world’s most notorious sources of counterfeit goods by U.S. government.

Pacific Mall, a predominantly Chinese-Canadian shopping centre in Markham, Ont., is one of 18 brick-and-mortar locations and 25 online retailers named by the U.S. Office of the Trade Representative in its annual review of so-called “notorious markets.”

Pacific Mall is the only Canadian market included on the list, though the report notes that one of the fastest-growing advertising networks that cater to online sellers of counterfeit goods is based in Canada.
