The victory over the Leafs is sealed by Bo Horvat's overtime winner. The victory on Sunday meant more than two points in the standings for Travis Green and his Vancouver Canucks.

When the P. 1 strain of the virus spread through the Canucks late last month, it became the NHL's worst COVID-19 outbreak.

Twenty-one players and four coaches tested positive for the virus, with one player being considered a near contact and another receiving a false-positive result. Family members, including one of the players' pregnant wives, became ill as well.

Green said after the Canucks won 3-2 in overtime against the Toronto Maple Leafs, "This isn't your typical regular-season victory. It's a unique victory "

"Over the last few weeks, we've gone through a lot with our friends. It was a difficult game. On the other hand, you're up against a really competitive hockey team. I'm proud of our team for sticking it out and winning tonight."

The Canucks' first game since March 24 was on Sunday. The game was initially scheduled for Saturday, but the NHL postponed it back two days after forward J.T. Miller spoke out last week, stating that players didn't have enough time to recover from the outbreak and that they felt unsafe.

Canucks captain Bo Horvat scored the game-winning goal 1:19 into overtime, beating Leaf's goalie Jack Campbell. In regulation, Horvat also had a goal and an assist.

Horvat said that the victory was significant not just for the players on the ice, but also for their families and the entire Canucks organization.
