Prepare for an intense showdown: special events scheduled for South Asian Heritage Night at Winnipeg Jets and Chicago BlackHawks game

The Winnipeg Jets will host their first-ever South Asian Heritage Night on February 11 to honour the city’s more than 60,000 residents of South Asian descent.

During warmups at the game, where the Jets will take on the Chicago Blackhawks, the team will don unique, colourful jerseys with a logo created by local graphic designer Charmi Sheth.

The new appearance, according to the team, is influenced by South Asian creative motifs and patterns, including Rangoli, a traditional art form in the area.

The jerseys will be sold at auction following the game to support Punjabi Health Services Manitoba.

Throughout the week of January 23, the Jets will also market T-shirts and hoodies with the South Asian-inspired logo.

Samosas, butter chicken, beef vindaloo, chicken masala satay, and tandoori chicken pizza will be available during the game at kiosks located throughout the concourse of the Canada Life Centre. Besides that, before the game and during intermissions, fans can enjoy cultural performances by groups from the Winnipeg Punjabi Arts Academy.
