The RCMP is investigating the theft of several Pride flags from outside businesses and homes in Victoria, Prince Edward Island.

Alyssa LaGrange was standing outside the Landmark Oyster House late Tuesday evening when a man in a black Dodge Caravan pulled up. She informed CBC News that he stole the restaurant's Pride flag, which had been placed to symbolize the restaurant's support for LGBTQ individuals and causes.

"I'm bisexual, so as a member of the LGBTQ community, it really, really upset me," LaGrange continued. "I've been quite lucky not to have had to deal with overt homophobia... This is the first time in a long time that I've done something like this."

LaGrange momentarily pursued the vehicle in order to get more information to give to authorities. She then discovered that other flags had been stolen throughout the community. "I was irritated. My guy was upset, almost vicariously via me " she stated.

"This village welcomes people from all walks of life. It's actually rather lovely. And to watch someone come here and just ruin everything was quite disappointing." Then, she said, she found solace in a Facebook post her father wrote, in which he stated that his initial reaction was anger, but then a thought occurred to him.

"He recognized that this village was..... we've been so loud about our acceptance of the LGBT population that we've become a target," LaGrange stated. "That is something we should be really proud of."

The RCMP confirmed that they are investigating the situation in response to at least two public complaints. While the investigation is ongoing, LaGrange stated that new Pride flags are being purchased to replace the ones that were stolen, ensuring that Victoria remains rainbow-clad as Pride Month comes to a conclusion.
