Region of Peel suggest ways to get involved during Waste Reduction Week.

The Region of Peel is introducing a number of ways for residents to get involved during Waste Reduction Week from Oct. 16-22.

During the weeks of Oct. 16 and Oct. 23 residents can take advantage of curbside battery collection by placing their batteries in a clear, resealable bag and placing that bag on a closed organics cart for recycling day pickup.

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, unwanted clothes, linens, towels and shoes can be brought to the closest Community Recycling Centre for free. Items will be reused and re-purposed.

Peel Region teachers can tweet photos of their class’s waste reduction efforts, use the hashtag #wrwPeel and mention @peelregion to win free transportation to the region’s recycling facility for a tour.

For more information about these programs, visit peelregion.ca/waste.
