RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ becomes first telugu song to enter Oscar race, creates history in Indian cinema

SS Rajamouli’s film ‘RRR’ pulled up to the 95th Oscar nominations. You read that right, the up – beat song “Naatu Naatu” has officially been nominated for an Oscar in the category of “best original song,” making it the first wholesome Indian song to do so on in the history of the awards on Tuesday.

As his movie “RRR” received 95 nominations for the Academy Awards on Tuesday, Indian director SS Rajamouli wrote a long thank-you card. The “Baahubali” filmmaker posted a message on Twitter that reads, ” , “My peddanna got an Oscar nomination for his song in my film…I can’t ask for more…I am currently doing Naatu Naatu more vigorously than Tarak and Charan…Chandra Bose garu.. Congratulations… Oscar stage meedha mana paata…thank you…Prem master, your contribution to the song is invaluable..my personal Oscar goes to you..Bhairava’s BGM is what inspired me to go ahead with ava’s Naatu Naatu, after hesitating for a long time.Love you Bhairi babu..baland Super energetic vocals by Rahul and Bhairava enhanced the song..”

The post further read “The main reason is Tarak and Charan’s sync and style. They danced their way into the hearts of audiences across the globe…Sorry for the torture. Earlier, ‘Naatu Naatu’ won Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards and now the groovy Telugu song is ready to set a foot in the race for the Academy Awards. If ‘RRR’ wins the Oscar, it will speak out as the most historic, remarkable, and memorable moment in Indian cinema.

The songs “Applause” from “Tell it Like a Woman,” “Hold my hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick,” and “Lift me up” from “Black Panther: The Wakanda Forever” are among the others up for an Academy Award this year for Best Original Song.
