Second Suspect Arrested in Homicide Investigation

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have charged a second 16-year-old male youth in relation to a Brampton homicide.

On Thursday, August 13, 2020, emergency services received a call for a medical assist for an unconscious man located on a pathway in the area of Queen Mary Drive and Heathwood Drive in the City of Brampton. When officers arrived on scene a man was located with obvious signs of trauma and was transported to a local hospital with vital signs absent. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital a short time later.

The victim has been identified as Surajdeep Singh, a 22-year-old man from the City of Brampton.

On Friday, August 14, 2020, a 16-year-old male youth from Brampton was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder. He attended bail court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Friday, August 14, 2020.

On Monday, August 17, 2020, a 16-year-old male youth from Brampton was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder. He was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Tuesday, August 18, 2020.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.

At this time, police are not looking for any other suspects in relation to this incident.
