Sherbourne shooting: Indian student Kartik Vasudev’s killer arrested in Toronto

In a major development in the Sherbourne shooting case, the Indian international student Kartik Vasudev’s alleged killer has been arrested in Toronto. The suspect had reportedly killed 2 people, the police said.

The ‘killer’ has been identified as Elijah Eleazar Mahepath (35), the police said. The two people who were killed, including the Indian student Kartik Vasudev, were strangers to the accused, the police added.

Earlier, the Seneca College students had held a candle march at Nathan Phillips Square in the memory of Kartik Vasudev, who was killed outside the Sherbourne Subway station.

It may be recalled that the 21-year-old Indian student was shot on Thursday outside the Sherbourne Subway station. He was taken to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead there.

Thornhill MP Melissa Lantsman had assured the locals that the federal government will work to get justice for his family and friends.

Lanstman said that “when you lose somebody, you lose an entire world around them.” She had also said that they support and will make sure that the House of Commons in Canada will get to know about Kartik Vasudev.

Likewise, the College president David Agnew had also expressed shock and grief at the death of the Indian student.
