Sikh High school students across GTA reached out to less fortunate today in the most humble way.
Around 200 high school Sikh students spread warmth to Toronto's less fortunate in memory of the Chhotey Sahibzadey today. Today was one of the coldest days of the year. After a moment of prayer at Yonge Dundas Square, Toronto, they started their morning.
This is the third year in row that students have reached out less fortunate and carried on seva. Seva literally means selfless service (in Punjabi).
The youth distributed warm wishes and clothing to the homeless. They spread out in Toronto Downtown and searched for those who need help. They distributed clothes, food and everything required in day to day life in a very warm way.
The Downtown Seva Initiative was organized by the Sikh Youth Federation, which is made up of Sikh Student Associations at Peel Region high schools.
This initiative was started three years ago. The students share that they want to help the needy in whatever way they can. They want to make life a bit easier for those who are facing hardships, especially in this extreme cold weather.
They tried helping the less fortunate living in the streets and those living in emergency shelter too.
