OPP officers charged a 33 year old man from Brampton with racing on Perth Road 180 near Cromarty. The vehicle was travelling more than 50km/h over speed limit.

The driver was identified as Manpreet Singh, 33-years-old Brampton man. Officers charged him with racing and seized his license. His vehicle was also towed and impounded.

Singh is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford to answer the charge.

OPP officers have advised drivers to slow down and follow the traffic rules.

“Excessive speed is a major contributing factor to motor vehicle collision fatalities. The faster you go, the longer it takes to stop, and the more dangerous a crash can be.” Staff Sergeant Steph Pilon, operations manager Perth County OPP. “Each time you double your speed, your braking distance is multiplied by four. In wet or icy road conditions, it’s even more.”
