Suspicious package found on Nelson Street in downtown Brampton.

The  suspicious package found on Nelson Street right near the corner of George Street North in downtown Brampton this morning has been destroyed.

The package was reported to police around 11 am today and  destroyed after 12:20 p.m. and police began to re-open roads in the area.A large swath of downtown is closed to vehicles and pedestrians as the Unit’s robot was used to approach the item and examine it.

It was determined that package was not a safety threat and was destroyed where it was.
