Toronto plans to celebrate the rich history of black culture as Black History Month begins this week
February is Black History Month when people across Canada take part in celebrations and events to recognize the contributions of Black Canadians and their communities.
Through the production and support of several events and initiatives throughout the city, Toronto is thrilled to honor Black History Month. Following a two-year shift to virtual activities because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City is pleased to once again safely offer in-person events this year.
The City offers events for people of all ages, such as musical concerts, exhibits featuring Toronto artists, book readings, and film screenings.
The City of Toronto has the opportunity during Black History Month to acknowledge the excellent contributions Black Canadians have made in the past and present. Black Canadians have made significant contributions to the fields of politics, economic growth, medicine, art, culture, public service, and human rights in Toronto and beyond.
