Toronto police officers were shot at, leading to one arrest

A person who allegedly shot at Scarborough police officers while barricaded themselves inside a house has been taken into custody.

For an unidentified investigation, police were initially called to Shenley Road near Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East. When the police arrived, shots were fired at them. They claimed someone was "actively shooting" at the police from inside a house.

Just before 10:30 p.m., police notified that the shooting had stopped and that they were negotiating with the person to bring them out of the house.

Police said shortly after 11:30 p.m. that the suspect had been taken into custody and the public was no longer in danger. There were no reported injuries.

Police warned Shenley Road residents to take cover in their basements and the general public to stay away from the area as the situation developed.
