The city’s new general manager of transportation, Barbara Gray says that Toronto’s network of roadways must work for all travelers regardless of whether they drive a car, ride a bike or get around on foot.

Car is no longer a King, she says.

Gray said, “If you own a car and a car is a more convenient way for you to get around the city you want to know your trip is going to be safe and reliable and I want to know that you are sharing the road safely for those making a different choice and to me that is the issue. It is about making the network work for all of our travelers regardless of what mode they choose.”

Gray was officially introduced as the successor to Stephen Buckley, who left city hall for a job in Philadelphia this past summer.
