Two people dead in separate early morning shootings in Brampton

Peel police are investigating two separate early morning shootings that left two people dead and sent another to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the first call came in at 12:43 a.m. on Sunday and had officers responding to a home in the area of Vodden Street East near Kennedy Road North.

Peel police spokesperson Const. Danny Martinni said a male and a female victim, both in their late 20s, were found in the back of a taxi outside the home suffering from gunshot wounds.

The two victims were sent to separate trauma centers where the male later succumbed to his injuries. The female remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Martinni described the suspect as a white male wearing dark clothing and said he fled in a dark-colored Ford F-150.

Police issued a public safety warning at 7:51 a.m. on Twitter for the Hwy. 10 and Bovaird Drive area. Martinni said the suspect vehicle may have been spotted near there and officers were searching the area.

“They have shut the area down until they deem it safe,” said Martinni.
