What a blessing to have a baby to fill your life with lot more love and commitment. And the joy is doubled when your New Year starts with a first look at you baby!
Surrey couple are one such blessed beings who welcomed their baby on Jan 1 marking the New Year.
Manpreet Kaur Nijjar and Hardip Singh Shergill were the proud parents of the first baby born in B.C. in 2018. She is their first child.
While most the province was ringing in the New Year, Manpreet Kaur Nijjar and Hardeep Singh Shergill were saying hello to their first child at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
Dad Shergill, 35, said, “We were looking for a normal baby. But everybody decided to have a c-section.”
Mom Nijjar shared, “I was scared or nervous from the natural (birth), not the c-section,” laughing a little.
The couple’s daughter was due to be born on Dec. 24, but a week of waiting brought on a decision for a c-section.
The baby girl was born just nine seconds after midnight at Surrey Memorial Hospital. She weighed eight pounds, seven ounces.
The baby will be named only later in the week when the parents visit a gurdwara for the formal name-choosing ceremony. The couple moved to Canada from India just two years ago.
The baby was actually expected on Christmas Eve and doctors had to perform a C-section.
